When is a glove the right way up and is this one pun or two ?

Ok, for those of you who did not attend tonight's task let's start at the beginning...a 12 strong team met at Wholefoods on one sunny Monday evening where we discussed birthdays and more importantly birthday cake! 17th July is GoodGym Richmond's first birthday and we will be celebrating in style. Please join us at 6.30pm to cut the cake at our fab start location that has been serving us well for the past year, Wholefoods. We will then take ourselves back to that very first task and tackle the balsam again. After the task we will be heading to The White Cross The White Cross to raise a glass.

Right back to tonight....someone was heard saying with great concern "no warm up?"as we walked past our usual spot in front of Wholefoods and headed towards Richmond Green where we definitely did warm up. Not only was the evening sun pouring down on us but Mark had us performing our own sun salutations and mobility exercises. We then ran one lap around Richmond Green (okay okay Mark it wasn't quite one lap!) . Once back we were invited to play an interesting (and at first confusing) game involving gloves and this is where our questions started...Mark was unsure whether it was the heat or the fact that we'd been caught taking a short cut on our lap of the green but he could not understand why 11 people (bright GoodGym people at that!) were confused as to whether the glove on the floor was prone or supine (in layman's terms "palm down or up") . At this point he nearly gave up on us but then the penny dropped and it was great fun! (with even more cheating going on.)

"Is it palm up or palm down?"

After all the fun and games which included more exercises and a burpee inspired celebration of 30 good deeds by Victoria we headed to our task. We ran along the beautiful Richmond riverside to our faithful friend ETNA where even with minimal tools we were still able to weed, clear, mulch and add gravel , giving life to the back garden of this wonderful community centre.

It was a double task tonight so we didn't rest there, instead we grabbed 800 leaflets, some from SPEARpublicising their 30th anniversary and the rest from Rosslyn Nursery, a new nursery and preschool created by ETNA themselves. With these in hand we split into two's and tackled the East Twickenham and Richmond streets. By now you would think we were pros in the world of leafleting but we still managed to get confused about which street had been targeted and which hadn't....thankfully we are in fact a clever bunch and managed to work it out in the end.

Before the sun set we were back at Wholefoods cooling down and congratulating ourselves on yet another good deed. Well done everyone (oh and Derya please don't ever say that you don't know what a burpee is again!) All that is left is to shout out a big GG welcome to Hannah, looking forward to seeing you again next week.

And so to answer the second question, this is GG's attempt at a double pun as we cleared the leaf and the leaflets were left with us.

Missed from the news tonight Mark should have shouted that there are 2 spaces left for a mission in the Richmond area this weekend. If you are interested please contact GG head office (those that are mission verified.)
