Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
This afternoon I met up with Beth for a mission in Camden for Mr H.
Mr H used to win awards for his garden, and really loved pottering around it. However, as his mobility has decreased, he's found it difficult to do as much as he used to. He asked GoodGym if we could help out with some weeding for him.
After being welcomed by Mr H, we started cracking on his garden. In place of the regular spindly weeds we were used to, today's weeds were masses of clover! It almost seemed almost a shame to remove these shamrocks, but they really were running rampant.
As we worked, we admired Mr H's exceedingly large gnome and planter collection: Aside from having two sets of seven dwarves and a minion gnome, there was also a truck-shaped planter that had front lights that worked thanks to solar panels. I'm just sorry that we couldn't get to see it in action.
We were also pretty amazed at the biodiversity thriving in Mr H's small patch of land. This was potentially helped by his bug hotel and bee-friendly plants (if a photo in the above looks like some random plant and wall, it's probably got a bee (or two!) in it somewhere). Thankfully there were no monsters found at all on this mission (unlike the dead snake found on Beth's mission last week), although the hose tried to give a pretty good impression of one and caused me to look twice!
After 90 minutes or so of weeding, we decided to call it a day before we got too obsessed with trying to clear every last shamrock leaf from the ground. Mr H said that he was very happy with our work as we made our goodbyes to him: He couldn't believe that GoodGym existed! 😄
It was fun catching up with you, Beth. See you at the Camden group run on Wednesday! 😄
