The forecasters were true to their word on the weather this morning looking out through the curtains, it was a cold, frosty picture. Resembling a weeble - 6 layers, 3 pairs of socks, gloves, long tights and buff - I did a mince of a jog on the ice to a beautiful looking Slow-bum Park, as affectionately called by some, in glorious sunshine for its parkrun.

Marshal point 3, at the bridge with the slam-gate, was the task today. I was also chaperoning J, a 14-year old Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award participant. J, Mark and I trotted over to set up point 1 &2, whilst discussing getting too old for running with all our injured bits! :0/

J and I set to securing the slam-gate open with blue rope. This hilariously took us way too much time, as we kept making more knots in the rope. Three-way arrow sign anchored, there was time for a selfie for no particular reason at all, and also to help a man asking if I had seen his horse that had got loose on Marriots Way – eek!

It was really icy on the route due to the shady nature of the path, so “Well done guys, take it easy on the bridge, it’s icy..” was my message as they came back on the return leg which was returned with lots of “Thanks, marshal!!”

Loads of buggies, some Mo-Vembers and a very smiley GoodGym-er Nicola (hello!!) in her red shirt made up a fraction of the 263 finishers today. Hopefully good runs for some parkrunners too, as Norwich Runners kindly did pacer duties this week.

And, I think needed more than 3 pairs of socks too! ;0)
