Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
20 Runners ran between 5-9k to help promote a greener Camden.
Despite the threat of heavy showers 20 runners made their way to Somers Town Community Centre and congregated in the boardroom for this week's GoodGym task briefing.....
Briefing, planning and discussion. Very formal
It sounds formal, it wasn't (when is it ever formal?)- we were unable to use our usually meeting place this week. However, perhaps the location was apt. This weeks task required a lot more planning and discussion than usual. Im sure the majority switch off when I start my briefing each week.......
Project Dirt- a valuable partner for all green projects across London
This week we were were helping our friends Project Dirt an online network that connects, promotes and resources passionate people and their community projects. They have been invaluable resource for us- helping us find loads of interesting projects to work with in the last year. They are looking to encourage community groups to engage with them and join in this years Camden in Bloom project. They asked us to deliver some posters across community centres in Camden to promote the event.
Maps..tick, Posters...tick, Highly trained Cardio- Vascular engines....errm tick
So, I made 3 sets of maps- each with a series of Community Centres dotted on them. We split into 3 teams with people choosing the team based on the length of run they fancied (there was 5k, 7k or 9k options). Each group received a pile of posters to deliver, and after a brief look at the maps the teams were away- heading off in different directions.
(Regents) Park-Core
When all the posters were delivered the teams headed for Regents Park. The first group to arrive were treated to a bit of running technique session- and by the time the last group arrived we were all running like champions. Everybody finished the task so quickly we had some time for a round of lovely CORE exercises before the heavens opened and we dashed for home. Nice job homies.
Camden
AIC's cold weather shelter helps 16 Londoners each and every week - you'll be making sure things are ready and inviting for the evening's guests :)
