Storm Eunice is approaching but wind and rain does not stop Goodgym Colchester making a significant improvement to the litter problem in Colchester.

Between Port Lane and Hythe Quay there is a handy cut through between industrial and residential areas but it seems to have been neglected for many years judging by the old tesco bags, polystyrene, cans and plastic bottles that were under layers of roots and mud. At one patch in particular we found a dodgy tree-house and more litter than we could manage, including a toilet seat, shoe, handbag, a watering can and a soggy collection of children's books.

There is often a mixture of thoughts and feelings when we litter pick but if there was any frustration at clearing other peoples mess up it soon went with some speedy sprints! In a race against themselves everyone managed to beat or equal their times. Definitely not wind assisted!!

Litter blights our streets, parks and beaches and costs us millions of pounds to clear up every year. Keep Britain Tidy is here to inspire people to eliminate litter now and for future generations. This is about more than simply getting people to pick up litter. We aim to change behaviour permanently by spotlighting the problem daily and offering creative solutions. We work with people, businesses, local authorities and government to educate, innovate and inspire - improving the environment on everyone’s doorstep.
