After skipping it in January, it was time for our first monthly social of the year at GoodGym Waltham Forest this Wednesday. Before that tasty end to our evening, we had some running and volunteering to do...

Our destination was The Mill a firm favourite with many of the crew for so many reasons (lovely staff, valuable community service, warmth, comfort and the inspiring range of activities that happen there). Our job this evening was cleaning the crèche. When we arrived it was in a bit of a sorry state, even the toys looked dejected, most of them lying around listlessly as toys tend to do.

As the crew armed themselves with the tools for the job it felt like there was even more enthusiasm than usual to the polishing, cleaning, tidying and sorting and it wasn't long before the place was sparkling like a Cillit Bang commercial.

Before our curry, it was time to sharpen our appetites with a bit of a session so after leaving The Mill, we headed down Coppermill Lane for some lampost intervals. 1-mile of sprints and recoveries followed by a long uphill run back to base.

At long last, it was time for our richly deserved reward and mega thanks to Ruth for sorting everything with the restaurant. It was delicious!

Don't miss next week as we are doing a task at our base! Yup, we will meet at Greenleaf Road Baptist Church and then do our task there too. "But what about the run?", I hear you cry. Not to worry, we will be heading out afterwards for a few KMs. Sign-up here and see you there.

People Making Things Happen

The Mill is more than a community centre – it’s Walthamstow’s living room. A home from home for anyone to drop in, read the papers, view an art exhibition, browse the honesty library, join a group or activity (or start up their own one), use the playroom or hire space for a party or workshop.
