Crowded House
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Friday, 6th of April 2018
Mrs H was in hospital and could only come home if a hospital bed was moved in, however before that could happen, her old riser-recliner bed had to be removed from her flat. So on Friday lunchtime, on the hottest day of the year so far, Ky and I cycled and ran to Clapton to help Mrs H out.
It turned out we were both Kiwis who had moved to London, which unfortunately, might make this a mission with one of the largest carbon footprints! Anyhow, after a couple of false starts due to a very tricky configuration of both bed and flat, where we had to get the bed through two doorways simultaneously, we managed to just squeeze it through and luckily the lift was just next door, so the rest of the move went smoothly.
On the way back, I happened to run past a cordoned off crime scene outside of a local bookmakers where someone was killed just two days before, which made me think that any bit of good we can do to counter the bad happening at the moment must be a good thing.
