Curtain brought down on summer
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.
- Thursday, 16th of November 2017
Stephen and Gosia went together for their second mission in Lewisham tonight, this time helping out Mrs B to change the curtains in her bedroom (from summer ☀️ to winter ❄ type) and also adjust the lock on the door 🚪 .
The first task went really smoothly - we started with taking down the summer curtains (with a nice floral pattern) along with the hooks. We put them temporarily on a bed, removed the hooks and then put them on the winter set (red, from a much thicker fabric). We used a ladder and a stool to hang the winter curtains on.
After that she showed us a lock in her bedroom door - the problem is that she can't lock her room. If she tries to lock it before closing the doors it works fine but not when the doors are closed -- something blocks the mechanism. Unfortunately, we couldn't figure this one out but Mrs B said it's not urgent and maybe next runners could help. We made few photos though, maybe this could help someone to understand the issue.
Before heading off we also fixed a curtain in a living room by attaching a string that holds a curtain to a screw anchored in the wall. This actually required a bit of 💪 and Stephen took on and smashed this challenge in a great style.
Mrs B was very pleased and thankful for our help today 😊. She said she was volunteering when she was younger. Especially because of this (but not only) it was so great to help her out tonight.
