Curtain Call
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Saturday, 24th of March 2018
Three GoodGymmers met in Hackney on Saturday morning to put up a curtain rail for Mrs E.
On arrival, Mrs E showed us that the curtains in her bedroom had been pulled down by her carer and she was unable to put them back up. On inspection, we saw that they had done it with such force that they had pulled the curtain rail down along with breaking the plastic clips holding it onto the wall (!)
We set about putting it back up but quickly realised that we would need new clips. So we dashed over Victoria Park to look for a hardware shop selling the right parts. Splitting up, we searched five shops before Danny found the exact parts we needed. £3.70 well spent.
Back at the house, we took turns up the ladder (though my height was useful for the extraordinarily high windows) to screw in the new clips then attach the curtains.
As you can see in the photos, it was mission accomplished! We were really pleased to get this done for Mrs E and she was delighted to have her curtains back. A nice way to spend Saturday morning!
