Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
22 Hackney GoodGymers ran 4k to Hollybush Community garden, where we cut, cleared, dug our way to glory before returning back to base to share some cake!
On a lovely East London Evening we met and congratulated our Marathoners ** Anna** in spirit and unbelievably *Amy * in person!
Setting off on our merry way we had a quick lower body conditioning/ rehab style dynamic warm up including a very coordinated ring a ring a roses side squatting action. We ran South and with some average navigation we snaked our way over the Tower Hamlets boarder to Hollybush community Garden.
Meeting Margaret we split into 2 groups and attacked a serious amount of cutting back! Lopping all the big shrubs down to exactly 4 foot 11 inches we kept up a strong pace while having a good laugh.
Giving the adjoining gardens a real spring makeover and reducing down some spiky shrubs to manageable sizes. Along with weeding, rubbish clearance we filled 6 big bags of garden waste as well as 3 bin bags!!
A few group pictures and we were off heading back to familiar surroundings on London Fields. Where we warmed up our quads with an epic game of Killer Cone. In groups of 3 we went best of 7 with everyone digging deep as the static squat began to burn with a range of Heads, shoulders, toes, heels, eyes, nose, and knees commands to coup with before using cat like reflexes snatching the cone from the ground. After the round robin stages we got into the knock out phase with a couple of rapid victories we got down to Amy vs Rich for the championship!! After a extra long hold and a load of commands negotiated Amy came out victorious in the titanic battle!!
As I thought the evening had drawn to a conclusion I was in for a huge surprise!! Thank you to everyone for organising (particularly Tom and Peter) and celebrating my 100th Goodgym Good Deed with a delicious chocolate cake, candles and party poppers! Very much appreciated and thank you so much for your support!!
Smooth Celebrating
