This community mission took us to the Tree House Café based at Windsor Baptist Church to help move items up 3 flights of stairs into their storage area. No mean feat in this heat!

The Windsor Baptist Church is a community hub which, pre-COVID, offered a Café with children’s play area, space for ballet, pilates, and Showstoppers classes and a base for the Street Angels. They are now looking forwards to re-opening some of their facilities but needed to put a lot of the children’s toys into storage to allow room in the Café for little booths. The Ballet classes can then re-start with space for the families to wait and relax safely.

The team of Ana, Sara and Jess met Kat and Kate outside the building and were warmly welcomed in and led through to survey the pile of items to be moved into storage. The next question was where to……the answer……3 flights of stairs later……a small balcony above the ballet studio!

Ana and Sara set to work bringing the items up two flights into the ballet studio so Jess could take them up final flight….however, much to the bemusement of Ana and Sara, Jess seemed to be bringing more down than she was taking up! This was all preparation, two cube storage units needed to be brought down into the Ballet studio, so the dancers could store their shoes and water bottles during classes. This then provided enough space for the items being brought up to be stored.

Ana and Sara made short work of bringing the items up and Jess began an odd game of Tetris to make sure everything fitted! As the last bits were being neatly stored a strange banging could be heard 2 floors down……Ana and Sara were now taking apart a mini slide! This also then made its way to the balcony storage.

Kat and Kate were so impressed with the neat storage, they found some more items to be fitted in, and this time it was Sara’s turn to play Tetris.

Once all the items were stored away there was just enough time for some bar work where all 3 runners demonstrated their Ballet prowess! Kat and Kate were pleased with the work completed and are looking forward to being able to invite GoodGym back to bring it all down again!!

As if running up the stairs, lifting, carrying and dancing weren’t enough the 3 runners set off for the Long Walk where Ana and Jess ran to the White Gate and back, with Sara walking and running too, with a competitive finish back to the Castle gates!

Edited by Amy Lovell to add - this was Ana's first time leading the session as Taskforce and Jess's 10th good deed and first run report. Really well done both of you!! It was also Sara's 103th good deed, which is incredible, since she only did her 100th 2 days before. What a team!
