Raining cats and dogs: it looked like weed weed ourselves by the end!
3 GoodGymers made their way to help the YMCA Allotment in Barnsley.
- Tuesday, 4th of June 2019
- Led by James Smith
Three hardy Goodgymers met up back at the YMCA allotment for a little bit of weeding and repairing of the polytunnel in the pouring rain.
Ready for action was Jason, who'd come prepared in waterproofs and wellies, unlike James, in his usual running shorts and myself who didn't check the forecast either! What happened to flaming June?
It was too wet to repair the polytunnel tonight, so after Jason managed to open the lock on the container we gathered some tools and set about pulling the weeds and tidying up the paths. It was wet and soon turned muddy and we had to keep breaking off into the polytunnel to shelter from the even heavier rain. We all chatted about past and upcoming runs and holidays to pass the time, whilst getting soaked to the skin!
Jason, with his gardening knowledge (loves his own allotment) enlightened us of what was growing where and even dead headed the onions to help them grow. Well done Jason!!
Great effort by all as we left still smiling even though we all had soggy bottoms! Hope the sun comes out next week.
See you next week!
