Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Shona Buchanan
We came, we ran, we fell over and got very muddy, then we ate fish and chips and drank beer and all had a merry weekend.
Despite the heavy snowfall in Bristol on Friday, the South Devon coastal line was untouched by the white stuff and beautifully sunny. After slipping out of Bristol, it felt like we had landed in a sunny paradise (if you ignored the freezing cold temperatures).
Patrick and Matt started off the day by setting off for their ultra-marathon, which meant they got to see some of the marathoner GoodGymers on their out-and-back route. 45 minutes later, the marathoners set-off, all of whom were treating the race as a Green Man training run (urgggh, you mean we have to run that AND more?!). We also had a great turnout in the half marathon, with the course getting even more slippery by then due to so many feet already having trodden the path. Finally, the 10k-ers set off to join in the mud-slide, skirting rocks, ice and mud to hills.
The GoodGym Cheer Squad were set-up on the finish line and were by far the most enthusiastic people around. We cheered and drank tea until all of Red Thunder had succeeded in battling the hills, and just in time for everyone to relocate to the pub for the rugby and well-needed refueling.
