It is getting more and more obvious now that indeed winter is coming, with the lovely warm sunshine disappearing earlier and earlier and temperatures starting to drop.

But a touch of autumn is not stopping Goodgymmers on their quest to do good in the community, so three runners braved the evening chill and went in search of Marian and her empire of water storage containers.

Having learnt from experiences with later ones, the first two installed needed a little update to get them ready & better prepared for next summer. After Marian removed the plants, Dharmesh & Kris started with removing the separate layers of soil & dirt, while Peter dashed off to the cornerhouse to collect some polystyrene sheets to use as insulation. Down to the rough gravel in the bottom, a game of tetris unfolded to fit the pieces of insulation in the container, supported by shovels full of dirt. Soon enough everything could be chucked back in the box, now awaiting a fresh load of herbs / plants / flowers. In the near future a waterbut will be appearing at the wall just across from the planters, very kindly to be hooked up to the drainpipes of the house there, so the planters can be watered if/when the heat gets too much for the now well insulated container.

Limited space in & around the container meant things took a little longer than initially expected, so a quick dash to get the legs going again before some stretched made it time to call it a day.

Part 1 done tonight, part 2 next week, any extra hands are welcome with the bigger of the two containers!
