This week, the social supermarket were looking to develop their outdoor space so that it can be used for growing vegetables, fruit and herbs to supply the supermarket.

The lovely folk from Team SpringBoard CIC were there to lead the mission and show everyone the best way to cut the turf and lay out the new beds. Jackie and Robin dug a whole bed in no time at all meanwhile Lil went backwards and forwards with the wheel barrow. The ground was quite stoney and there were lots of weedy roots to tackle. However, Jackie and Robin were not put off by this and worked like machines to get the job done. Jackie and Lil also moved large planks of wood to form the borders to the new plots.

We were really pleased with what we managed to get done in quite a short amount of time, and there will be plenty of more activity in this area of the site as the project unfolds.

It has been a particularly challenging week for the supermarket as last night, they were broken in to. Amongst lots of damage and destruction, lots of food was also taken. Amidst all this, it was heartening to complete this activity today, as a show of solidarity and an investment in the future of the centre. GoodGym Coventry were keen to help in any way they could to help to help maintain this essential service in such turbulent times, and will continue to do so in the future.
