Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Bournemouth runner
This week we were asked to help with a great project. A family was facing eviction from their property if they didn't refurbish the house. A local community group that was made up of people who went to the local church and were customers at Joy Cafe (another community project we have helped in the past), got together and after rallying support had the family moved out for a week so all the work could be completed. So many people in and out, coming to help. So nice to see how peolpe are still there for each other.
We didn't have a huge turnout this week due to injuries and so on, but we still had the Fab 5! Yes, we were fabulous! After running to Boscombe along the promenade and then up through the icy gardens we got to the house in no time. Camilla, the lady who had contacted me came to meet us and introduce us to the team. We had met the workers before so it was nice to say hi and they were delighted to see us come and help out again.
Andrea, Abi and Andrew made short work of sanding all the wooden areas in the kitchen. Rob and I were sanding the gas pipes runnig up the stairs. Soon we were all congregating on the steps and sanding up a storm! Abi made a new friend in Henry...BFFs!!!
Our time was soon up and after taking some photos with the workers for them to use in a collage for the family we set off back to the Triangle....I swear the temperature had dropped on the way back!!!
Hope to see many of you on Friday at Coffee and Dice for our get together!!! See you all soon!!!
