Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Gosia Rybacka
It was a lovely, sunny afternoon, is there be any better way to spend it other than doing some good? Emma and Gosia met up in Bromley today to help out Mr H in dismantling and moving the wardrobe out of the house for a collection.
At the door, we were welcomed by a very enthusiastic and equally sweet Mr H’s doggie – Ralphy. Mr H is not able to get up from his bed so couldn’t handle today’s task by himself. He explained us what needs to be done, at the same time we were cuddling Ralphy - as the doggy was ceaselessly (!) craving for our attention. Before we got on with the task we had a nice chat with Mr H about his younger years, the world and how quickly everything changes. It seemed that Mr H was really enjoying the conversation.
The wardrobe was standing in a small room upstairs, partly dismantled. First, we moved all loose parts down and put them near the front door. Then, we got back up upstairs to disassemble the remaining parts. What a great surprise, that in the same room we have found a drill and if it couldn’t handle we were simply pulling away the joined parts from each other. This required a bit of strength so good that we are both by nature very strong 😉.
After bringing everything down, we stopped by to say ‘goodbye’ to Mr H. As the final part of the task, we moved everything to garden to get it all prepared for the collection. Mr H was grateful for the help and asked what charity we would like him to donate to say ‘thank you’ for the help he received from us today. And this is how the goodness spreads out 😊.
