Tonight 6 goodgym runners were raring to run so we could play games!

This weeks task was to go and and play board games with the lovely residents at** St Lesmo court in Edgeley**, a 1.5km run away from our starting location.

It was a hot and humid night and so we set off at a slow pace, the lovely Anne was our back marker, we all stuck close by for most of it as no one was feeling a fast run in the heat……

After a quick welcome and hello briefing we set off, a few bad days had been had and so we needed a cheer me up and a quick sweep of the cobwebs, which is good because not only were we planning on playing board games at St Lesmo, we also had a few jobs to do before hand.

After arriving at the home we were met by* Amanda the resident manager and Andrew one of the residents*, we filled buckets with soap and water, put on gloves and powered up.

Before the games began our task was to give each window sill a wipe down, good job Pete! All looking super now thanks to your elbow grease. We were also asked to give the outside a sweep and tidy, it hasn’t been done in around 10 years, and it looked great once Vicky had given all her energy to it, again well done.

The rest of us picked up litter, swept and cleaned the area, as well as sticking bums out of bushes and choking on flowers, it was all fun and games last night.

After our final bit of cleaning we set to a game of dog bingo!!! woof.

It was all going splendid until I got bit by some 5ft red ants with teeth the size of mountains, my own fault for sitting on the nest without realising, sorry ants. Anyway back to the game, Pete won the bingo, he was major woofed at winning a soft mint for his efforts. Horrah.

After all the games and excitement it was time to run back, the route back is up a gentle hill and it was still hot, so we didn't run super fast, instead we casually ran and chatted, all in much better moods than before we started may I add, so all good.

At St Lesmo we were given orders for next time we visit, the garden still needs some love and attention, as well as a lick of paint on the hand rails, next time I just wont sit on the ants nest…….ouch.

Thanks to everyone for your great efforts this week, not only with the running, cleaning and game playing but also in cheering each other up.

Once back at Lifeleisure we had a quick stretch off, cool down and Pete was awarded his prize of soft mint, well done dude, you deserved every chew of that mint!

Have a great week running guys, don’t forget we are nearly 1 years old so if you have a celebration idea then let me know.
