Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Matthew Hancox
Matthew and Emma met Mr H at 10.30 on a beautiful autumn morning.
Mr H outlined what he would like us to complete; to do some topiary to 2 large hedges at the front of his house so that he could watch passers by, and in the back garden clear all the leaves that had fallen and cut back all the primulas. We asked plenty of questions especially as we couldn’t put the hedge back on! He laughed and asked us if we knew what a foot was! And we got to it.
Matthew found a new love, dare I say talent, for topiary! Made so much easier by Mr H’s great set of tools. We were able to take a foot off the hedges and clear the weeds and path to make the garden feel clear and open.
We then set to work on the back garden. Clearing all the leaves and pulling out the weeds with some huge spiders and a lot of lovely snails! We then cut back all the primulas.
Mr H was absolutely delighted with the result and that we had finished in time for his yoga exercises!
Good gym is as much about talking to each other as the mission. During the mission Emma and myself discussed many subjects including confidence and the importance of living too, and knowing, your core values. Having such a fantastic conversation was the cherry on top of a fulfilling mission and a great start to the weekend.
All that’s left to say is: what do you call a cow who works for a gardener? A lawn mooer.
Don’t stop be-leafing.

Brilliant report. This is my coach & I’m sure he’ll be very happy & can’t wait to tell me all about it on my next visit. He even phoned me this morning to tell me who was coming. Thanks guys. 👍🏽
