Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Shannon (She/Her)
3 GoodGymers, Tracey Deal, Jo Bowen and I donned our gardening gloves to help the voluntary team at the Palace Road Nature Garden. We removed weed and mulched around the base of the trees in their Orchard. We also cut back thorny weeds and plants from a seating area that had become completely overgrown, covered and inaccessible. It was a great morning in nature and a good work out; carrying many wheelbarrows to and throw!
This small nature garden was created in the 1980s. It provides a varied habitat of both an open grassland and a wooded area of exotic and native trees. The pond attracts dragonflies and damselflies flying above and frogs and newts swimming below. Gerry always needs a hand to keep the paths clear of brambles and weeds and to make sure the public space can be enjoyed by everyone.
