My aching shoulders have just about recovered from this morning's unexpected upper body workout courtesy of the Hackney food bank team at St John's Hoxton and the generous amount of foodstuffs they distribute to their recipients.

I was also glad I'd brought a backpack and a few shopping bags, but in hindsight some wheels would have been most useful. Mr D's carer welcomed me into his flat and was as surprised as I was about the amount of food he received, as it took me a while to empty all the bags in his hallway.

The food bank is moving to a new location at the Museum of the Home from Sept 5th, so highly recommend any future volunteers for this mission bring some wheels (of the trolley variety, albeit a van would also be useful) and/or a large backpack (or Sherpas, Mules, Camels etc...).
