3 runners ran 9.2km to deliver over 150 leaflets in support of cancer care centre Sunflowers.
What kind of wonder women turn up for a 9km run and a leaflet drop on the sunniest Bank Holiday Monday in years? GOODGYM WOMEN, that's who! Pauline and Emma, I salute you - this week you put the good into GoodGym.
With 22 degree heat and being the day after a very sweaty Liverpool Spring 10km race, on a beautiful Bank Holiday, I knew that numbers were going to be low for this week's Group Run. But sometimes it is a case of quality over quantity, and the 2 runners that joined me out did themselves.
These two improver runners kept pace on our run out of the city and as we skirted Princes Park where most folk were enjoying an evening sunbathe or BBQ rather than a 9km run. We stopped in the St Micheal's area and quickly dropped over 150 leaflets, making local residents aware of a brilliant charity - Sunflowers Cancer Care Centre - that is based in their neighbourhood.
Although the 6km run back to base was a long one, it was filled with cherry blossoms and awesome views with the sun slowly setting over the banks of the Mersey. Check out the pictures!
Pauline and Emma, you are leafleting legends! Thanks for showing up and making your Bank Holiday Monday count.
Next week's run is much more gentle - around 2km in each direction - as we head to a community sports centre in Kensington. This is the perfect session for newbies, so bring your friends. We'll be tidying up Jubilee Sports Bank's outside space, so gloves are essential. You know what to do, sign-up now!
Until next week, enjoy the sunshine and happy running, Char <3
