Report written by Joel Wiles
26 Buoyant Hackney GoodGymers zoomed 6k to Abney Park Cemetery to create a mulch path, clear vegetation for a new gravel path and re house a load of common grave Head stones.
Ever so slightly better weather this week as Karma for the monsoons last!!
Great to see a lovely big group with some new faces and some much missed returning ones to add to the squad!!
The Coalition lead the way this week on the direct route to Stokey, really appreciate the help tonight especially, thank you!!
Strong and Steady running to meet Park Keeper Tom where we picked up our tools and headed deep into the Abney Park unknown!! Splitting up into 3 groups we shovelled, shifted and spread 2 tonnes of Green mulch along 120 metres of path to create a thick base.
The second group were cutting, ripping and removing all vegetation so that the new gravel path can be continued with a full width and nothing growing through.
The third group had a mental and physical challenge on their hands lifting shifting common grave Head stones into the correct position according to date then pick axing a hole to get it to stand up in. Seriously tough team lifting to go with Crystal Maze esq date decoding!!
40 minutes of fun, fulfilling and physical work under our belts we headed back to base at a stronger pace dropping off runners off along the way!
Great job tonight team and really look forward to seeing you all next week for our longer run to the North of the borough to clear a big community garden! Sign up here
Don't forget I am taking Fitness 4 All sessions on Thursdays. This month we are meeting at Bethnal Green Tube station at 6:45 for a 7::00 start, be great to have you along to work on your running form and fitness!! Sign up here
