Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Aimee (she/her)
It was a sunny day and team GoodGym were out in force – there were eight of us helping in St Lawrence Park!
We started off by finishing the job we had started last month cutting back the over grown grass edges on the football pitch / basketball court to improve the pitch for the local community which use it. The recent rain made the grass verges much softer and easier to dig than last time. We finished quickly and Mike, the task owner, joked that we weren’t getting away that early! Once we were done Mike blasted the bits away with a leaf blower which showed the difference we had made.
Once the football pitch was finished, me Miranda and Andrew moved on to edging an overgrown path. Liz, Rachael, Tom and Sam headed to the children play area to get rid of the overgrowth around the fence surrounding the park. Paul was helping them too before he was sent on a mission to snip off any overgrown little branches.
We stopped for a well-earned tea break and had some half-coated digestives and fig rolls. We had a scramble on the bouldering balls in the park, Tom managing to launch himself up there, some of us having a bit more trouble! We decided we weren’t wearing the correct shoes! Fed and caffeinated we continued on and finished as much of edging as well could before 12.
Well done everyone who helped today and an extra big well done and congratulations to Liz for completing her 50th good deed! She will soon be joining the black t-shirt crew!
If you want to help out at Harbottle park tomorrow sign up here or we are back at both St Lawernce and Harbottle park next month!
