We got our creative heads on at GoodGym Waltham Forest tonight, with a visit to a pillar of the local community, The Mill. With Halloween just around the corner, our job was to help prepare for the annual children's party that celebrates all things spooky. Among other things, our job was to prepare some of the main attributes for 100 Spider Hats that party goers will get to make.

100 spiders means 800 legs! Thankfully, these arachnids were to be endowed with just one pair of eyes, but that still meant 200 eyes needed cutting out too!

Our task setter up supremo at The Mill is Natasha, and she had done an admirable job preparing for and briefing us for the task. With refreshments on hand and equipment all laid out nicely on a large table, everyone got cracking immediately and in no time everyone had more legs than a bucket of chicken.

The great thing is that we are back at the same place next week for a return fixture. Whether you were there and want to see it through or if you missed out and want to be part of this amazing project, make sure you come along and sign-up here

This year's Halloween Party at The Mill is on Saturday 26th October so if you have some kids and you fancy a visit, it is sure to be the best party in town.

People Making Things Happen

The Mill is more than a community centre – it’s Walthamstow’s living room. A home from home for anyone to drop in, read the papers, view an art exhibition, browse the honesty library, join a group or activity (or start up their own one), use the playroom or hire space for a party or workshop.
