Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
24 runners ran 5k, legged it to the top of Primrose Hill twice and delivered a giant stack of flyers for Somers Town Community Centre
Deeer de deeeeeeer da der der- bam bam bam bum bum bum
Yup, you guessed it- its the Crystal Maze theme tune.... this week's Camden GoodGym was a bit like the Crystal Maze. Except with no Crystals, or Mazes, and we didn't have to grab little bits of silver and gold paper that are being blown about with a big fan. Other than that though- absolutely identical. Instead of grabbing bits of paper we were putting them through doors.
Our home, Somers Town Community Centre
Our run as always started from Somers Town and this week our task was to help them out. They have been great to us and its nice to do them a favour. They have just started a great Job Hub initiative- with support to help local residents back into paid employment. If one person heads into the centre and gets some help as a result of 20mins of dashing round the estate then it was time well spent! We also popped round some flyers for their cafe. They rely on the cafe for revenue- helping them to deliver schemes like the Job Hub and supporting groups like us who use the centre.
Run to Primrose
We followed it all up with a run to Primrose Hill where we attempted some nice Hill Sprints. Hills are a great work out- the most time effective speed training you can do. It doesn't take long for your legs to fill up with lactic as you climb to the top. They're one of the staples of Kenyan runners training diets- helping them build power and strength. Hopefully it will help some of our runners in the build up to Half Marathons in the Spring!
Rock on
Camden
AIC's cold weather shelter helps 16 Londoners each and every week - you'll be making sure things are ready and inviting for the evening's guests :)
