Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Melanie Young (she/her)
Beautiful blue skies watched over our progress at Urban Escape with oodles of weeding, harvesting, road recovery, wood-chip and compost shifting helping to get the place back under control.
Liz arrived having preferred* us to the Northern Slopes gang so we had an extra pair of hands to tackle the not-poly not-tunnel. Darren tried his hand as a greengrocer.
No eighties or nineties musical accompaniment but much chat of parkrun’s return and potential changes to future events, excellent social distancing all round.

Urban Escape is based at the roundhouse and acre growing space at Springfield Allotments in Knowle and aims to reconnect young people and adults with nature, create lasting relationships and supporting local people on their journey through life. The project utilises a wide variety of outdoor activities, life skills and group work as the tool to engage the groups and build relationships. Hands on and creative activities throughout the year include bush craft, growing, foraging and cooking fresh food, natural arts and crafts, community engagement and social action projects. The Junior, Senior and Adult groups take ownership of their projects by choosing activities and trips at different points through the year. All three groups have a maximum of 10 young people/adults at any one time because of the tools and activities used for the sessions. http://www.youthmoves.org.uk/urban-escape
