Report written by Tara Shanahan
After our monthly parkrun meet up down on the prom, where Martin scored an impressive new PB, we headed off to our extra weekend task at Sloane Court.
We’ve achieved so much here over the past few months and today's task was to complete the planting in the area that will hopefully eventually be home to some hedgehogs. These poor little creatures are in decline and Sloane resident Tony, is keen to do his bit to get the numbers back up by installing a hedgehog hotel. But every hog needs a hedge and in a few months, today’s planting will provide the habitat they need.
Whilst Martin & Michael were busy hedging, Damian gave a bushy tree a big haircut, Helena picked up loads of rubbish and had a good sweep up, Sherman dug up some overgrown mallow plants, David raked the lawns of leaves & Rosie tidied up some plant pots.
Just as we were getting ready to go a grateful resident gave thanks from her flat window and threw down a yummy box of chocolates which we all enjoyed, and I didn’t need asking twice to take the rest home and I’m polishing them off as I type!
