Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Here's the topline numbers from GoodGym Camden's run last night
28 runners.
A nice group. We all congregated at Somers Town Community Centre this Wednesday. Tonight's run was slightly different to the usual so we went through a slightly extended safety briefing outside the centre. By 'extended' I mean 'rambling' and 'slightly tedious'. We were helping Project Dirt- an online network helping green community groups connect with each other and new sources of funding. They're playing a key role in the Camden in Bloom campaign - encouraging schools, business and individuals to turn shared spaces green.
6 teams.
Camden Council provided 6 banners and 6 locations. It was our job to leg it out and lasoo these banners onto the railings. So we broke into 6 teams with each team receiving 1 banner, 12 ties and a special envelope.
1 special envelope
This included all the task info; a sheet with 2 postcodes (for banner and finish location), a photo of where to stick the banner, 2 goodgym flyers and 2 Stickers
Using this stuff each team had to complete 3 challenges. The first was to lasoo the banners to he railings and to take a photo of it (and tweet it, mentioning the #camdeninbloom). The second was to give one unsuspecting member of the public a flyer (and to again provide photographic evidence), and the third was to stick one of the stickers on a billboard poster. Once all the challenges were complete they had to leg it down to Regents Park and congregate by the Espresso Bar on the main thoroughfare.
30 seconds
When they arrived at Regents Parks they were put through a series of 30 second exercises- which were in the words of one young female heckler "well 'ard fam". We did a few planks, a couple of bridges, and some funny leg raises- Fantastic work fam!
3 relay races
For the last few minutes we ran some relay races, dashing across Regents Park in the fading sunlight. Handily over the 3 races each team gained a victory leaving the spoils shared.
Here's the team awards for the evening
'1st- Banner Photo Tweeters'- Team 4! The Russell Square Team were quickest off the mark.
'1st Team to arrive at the Espresso Bar' Team 2! The Euston Team were comfortably the first to arrive at the finish.
'Special Award for Mammoth Effort'- Team 6 (and particularly Tom B) who legged it 12k all in all to complete the task.
'Special Award for Milking it'- Team 1! Who ran to the task, noticed their one and only smart phone had died so ran back to the centre to collect someone else's before running all the way back to get the pictures.
'Best Sticker Photo' Has to go to Team 5, and their lampost antics.
'Happiest member of the public receiving a flyer award' . Close....Team 4 had a great shot with Steve, but the award goes to Team 3 with the shot of two lads who look genuinely interested!
