Report written by Peter Van Tongeren
Blink and it is gone... it seemed only yesterday that all of us were looking forward to the festive break and now it has been & gone, back to the 'normal' routine of Monday evening group runs!
A team of Redbridge Regulars assembled at base, joined by the lovely Amy from our neighbours Waltham Forest. With plan A & B unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, plan C not quite coming to fruition and back-up plan D not required, we set ourself to Plan E... A (physic?) Dharmesh seemed to have sensed it in advance and came prepared with his own personal litter picker.
We set off to the Green Man roundabout, usually a prime hotspot for litter. This time round there wasn't as much as expected (council been round recently?), but wandering up the road towards Whipps we did come across enough to fill the binbags brought along. There weren't any prices for weirdest item, but if there were, the male underpants would probably take top spot! The discussion about how the pants ended up where we found them led to some interesting local knowledge, best not discussed in a public forum... Bags dropped off at a nearby bin for the council to collect, we set off for the run home, job well done.
Next weeks group session will be at Hainault with Julia.
