Share the love

Gillian, Roberta and Sheila welcomed Angela to the community allotment and her first Goodgym session, and she chose a lovely evening for it. Roberta took on the watering whilst Angela and Gillian got stuck into planting out the spinach seedlings into one of the raised beds. There were some left over, so they found some space for them in some of the other beds. Meanwhile Sheila and Roberta weeded all the beds - I was dismayed to find a slug climbing up my T-shirt, having left a slime trail. Yuk! We also had a surprise visit from Sol, getting in some steps on her way home from work. We harvested some beans and courgettes, and made our way home.

This task supported

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
