21 GoodGymers ran between 4-5km and dug holes for FROGG

Thank you to everyone for coming along, no actual newbies but welcome to Katherine whose 2nd ever time it is at GoodGym! In the news this week:

  1. Come and do Regents Park 10km on Sunday 10th December - only 2 days after the GG Xmas Party!
  2. Well done to Caroline who recently passed her Coaching Assessment and is now a qualified Coach in Running Fitness with England Athletics.
  3. It's my birthday this weekend! I'm doing Mile End Parkrun on Saturday and then going for breakfast - all welcome :)

Right onto the evening, after we'd warmed up we headed North up Hornsey Road to Grenville Gardens to help the Friends of Grenville Gardens (FROGG) - upon our arrival Aidan monitored the group while they did various conditioning, including squats and lunges! Meanwhile I worked out a code, keys, tools and heard from Sue (FROGG) saying she was unfortunately ill and couldn't make it.

Opening up the metal box of tools we distributed bin bags, shovels, spades, forks, brooms & handtools - nice! Splitting into four teams we covered the following:

  1. Steve got to do his favourite task and sweep leaves, he was joined my Alix, Kike & others
  2. A group, including Nina and Katherine, dug little random holes around the veg box areas for autumn bulbs to go into.
  3. Around the fence Alex, Lucy and Ben also dug bulb holes & swept leaves
  4. The final group, which increased in numbers over time, dug 100's of holes on a patch on ground outside the fence - FUN FACT the area this group were working was the first ever GG Islington Task nearly 3 years ago where 40+ people cut back waves of thorns and roots! Now it's going to be flowers!

For the entire 30 minutes of work Patrick was taking quality photos & Aidan was being a fantastic superviser - managing the tool box & compost bins - thanks guys!

Bourbons!

After biscuit time we finished our holes, felt pretty wholesome about the GOOD we'd done for our community and tidied up. Heading home we enjoyed the slight downhill and a good stretch out.

Next week we are planting tree's for the Single Homeless Project - gonna be cool - sign up here

PB out.
