Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Caireen McGinn
On a ridiculously hot Saturday afternoon, two Lewisham locals made their way to see Mrs C, who's garden was in need of a good tidy up. This was a particularly special occasion is it was Bradley's 50th Good Deed!!!! Congratulations Bradley!!!!
Mrs C is a keen gardener but is sadly no longer able to do as much as she likes due to a recent operation. Bradley and Caireen got stuck in straight away, removing weeds from cracks in the pavement and strimming Mrs C's lawn. Bradley had never used a strimmer before, but after a quick demo, soon became a total pro and finished the lawn in no time.
Mrs C mentioned that she no longer liked the bamboo fencing that had been installed along the fence that separated her garden from next door, so that was swiftly removed and tidied up for Mrs C to leave for the council to collect. Mrs C also mentioned that she was worried about a small fig tree that had taken root behind her greenhouse. She was worried that it would grow out of control and take over her garden. It was difficult to get to but after lots of forking and shovelling and hand digging, we managed to remove it and pop it on top of the rest of the garden waste for composting.
After sweeping up and doing a final tidy of the garden and pathway, we said our goodbyes to a very grateful Mrs C and were back on our way into the Lewisham heatwave.
