Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Melanie Young (she/her)
A bumper crop of GoodGymmers met up in Queen Square, including two visitors (spies) from other GoodGyms - welcome to Bristol, Lucy and Beattie, thanks for finding the time to join in!
Given the heat, and four run leaders amongst the red t-shirted group, we split into a walking group plus longer and shorter route running groups. The cemetery was in blissful shade when we arrived enabling us to have our pick of areas for pathfinding, edge finding, bramble cutting and bindweed pulling with dumpy sack and black bags being shared around.
There was a fantastic level of chat amongst all the groups who made great progress in leaving the space much tidier than we found it.
We were soon dragging the sacks to their collection point and gathering up belongings for our final photo when ace TaskForce member Phill realised he couldn't find his bag. We did our usual check of who'd picked up the wrong bag but couldn't track it down. We checked the edges of the park, the outer boundaries and other dumping hotspots but had to conclude that whilst wed been helping the community, someone had helped themselves to Phill's bag. Multiple phone calls to cancel cards and phone and accessing some emergency supplies for Phill, we didn't get to have our end of task photo or celebrate Beattie's 50th good deed but i hope you'll be celebrating when you get your new t-shirt!
