I visited Ms M to pick up her shopping list and enjoyed another chat on the doorstep. We spoke about the challenges this time has presented for us and the social isolation it has caused, particularly for those who are shielding. We then spoke of our travel and adventures over the years, and discovered we have both been to similar places in Australia. Ms M then talked of her plans to visit friends once it is safe to do so. One thing was for certain we we were both missing our friends and family and found some comfort in talking to each other.

I am coming to realise that whilst getting Ms M's shopping during this time is helpful for her, it is the chat on her doorstep that she gets the most from, and whilst the intention is that I am there to do a good deed to help a member of the local community, it seems to be lifting my spirits to see her, too.

It is a funny old time at the moment, but we are certainly all in it together.
