Free the Lavender
8 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in York.
- Monday, 7th of August 2017
8 GG Yorkies pottered up to Kingsway North to free more lavender.
As part of this ongoing task, we cut back another huge batch of weeds and grass ready for the lavender to be covered with a bucket so the area can be sprayed.
We filled 18 black bags of weeds and grass cuttings in an hour and then split into two teams for an intense race to the Premier Inn for the start of the group run. With three cyclists stuck at traffic lights and five runners taking a direct route back - it was neck and neck until the last moment. The faff of locking up bikes saw the cyclists hit Micklegate traffic lights on a red.. on the wrong side. Becky led the runners on the other side to a sprint finish - running wins!
