6 runners turned up to help in York councils drive to get all the benches mapped in York to assist people who need a sit down during walks.

There was a slight mishap to start off with as I may have changed the time to 18:30 without informing everyone so 3 GG'ers ended up waiting at the starting point at Shell garage for an extra half an hour (I said I was sorry!).

Despite this, we quickly split up the maps and got straight to work; it turns out we had a duplicate map from another area so we only had 2 maps between 6 of us. 1 map between 3, that's quick work right? Well Tristan, Izzy and I may have got slightly lost as well as distracted at some funky fold out benches which added an extra half hour or so. To make it worse the other group finished first and were waiting for us for about 20 minutes...at the Shell garage! (seriously I am sorry!)

Regardless, we managed to get all the benches mapped and got to the pub after. Job well done!

Looks at how York does to make the place an age friendly city through World Health Organisation checks. Age Friendly York is currently looking at Getting Out And About and residents are saying they need benches to break up their journey so they can get to the shops and other places.
