Report written by Peter Van Tongeren
With trainer James unfortunately indisposed, it fell to little me to welcome the group and a lovely mixed group it was tonight indeed! Besides the familiar faces of Kathryn, Linda & James C, it was task number 50 for Redbridge regular Dharmesh! - give him a cheer on a well deserved black t-shirt milestone! And on top of that we had the pleasure of the company of the lovely ladies Emily & Lera for their first ever Goodgym outing!!
A bit of a guided tour along Wanstead Park & Leyton Flats brought us back down to the High Street, where we went along the numerous plots of Marians guerilla gardening to clean up dead leaves & pick up dropped/blown in litter, from Snaresbrook station all the way to Wanstead station. Besides the usual cans & crisps bags, there were some more unusual items as a pint glass with snails and the evidence of someone loosing faith...?
Well over two miles ran & rubbish cleared, the team still felt fresh and energetic, so they voted for a detour rather than the short route back to base. Dharmesh even added a dash across the bridge for fun - perhaps the start of a reviving the Nutter Lane relay....? Back at base Dharmesh took charge of the post-run stretching exercises before handing out delicious celebratory little cakes!
Thanks all for putting up with me, next week James will be back in charge!
Run by Marian this group helps take unloved patches of land in Wanstead and Snaresbrook and turn them into beautiful patches of flowers and plants.
