Ashley, Pete and Rachel met up to litter pick in Derby city centre and help improve the streets for locals and visitors.

There were lots of (mostly full) drinks containers collected including an interesting spiced gin bottle from Marks and Spencer and a Christmas cup from Starbucks that heightened the groups festive spirits. Just in time for Remembrance Sunday, the group found a keychain commemorating the event and left this in a noticeable place in case someone came back for it. There was much excitement around what the group thought was some sort of pack of playing cards or collectable cards in some glitzy packaging however this turned out to be a tobacco product. What at first glance looked to be part of a halloween mask was pieced together with other smaller segments along with a large body piece and (lucky?) paw of a small lion statue. The golden paw was put on top of a bin for any passers by to rub for good luck. A sweetener pack was labelled with what could be a contender for a new GoodGym motto....'keep calm and sweeten your life' (with some volunteering)....

Two bags were collected and the group walked just over 3km on the night in a well lit city centre. The new equipment that has been donated by Derby Parks makes a real difference to our litter picking and the hoops help to keep bin bags open and accessible to drop rubbish into when conditions are a bit windy.

Thanks to Pete and Ashley for helping out on the session, hope the chippy tea and curry were enjoyed.
