Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
I look around me and its quite clear that a lot of you are disobeying the first rule of GoodGym. You MUST talk about GoodGym! Your task this week if you feel up for the challenge is to introduce GoodGym Richmond to someone you don't know. Give them the website (www.goodgym.org) , tell them about all the good we do and let them know this is the running club to join.
As I looked around me tonight it felt good to be in the presence of some great people doing good deeds. Rather than refer to us as low in numbers I think it would be better labelled as “The Fantastic Four”. TONIGHT, GG Richmond took on its first group run at the max distance of 10km. For some this is an arduous task but the Fantatic Four ran the bulk of it in the dark! That's right...pitch dark, not even the moon to light our steps just the tiny flicker of our head torches.
On our travels which some would refer to as spookier than a Blair witch movie we stumbled across some deer, red and fallow; the occasional other runner and then what seemed to be a Kangaroo with a torch in his mouth (and you thought Halloween was next week!)
GG Richmond, you thought you'd seen fallen leaves and weeds to last you a lifetime but at the Roehampton Methodist Church we probably had our biggest clean up mission so far. Due to the long run our time at the church was kept short but due to our numbers we squeezed as much as we could into every second. This made the return run all the more zapping but due to some great team work and support for fellow runners our four beacons of hope trudged through the darkness, dodged the Kangaroo and got back to the warmth of Wholefoods store in time to enjoy some biscuits.
It was pleasure to run with you guys, I think you should all be really pleased with how you tackled the run and the task; and I am sure you will sleep well tonight.
Don't forget guys there is a Halloween run in Richmond this Sunday (http://humanrace.co.uk/event/trick-or-treat-run/), give us a shout if you intend to go and we will try and find you there.
And remember the first rule of GoodGym Richmond....Oh...to set your mind at ease the Kangaroo turned out to be a enthusiastic dry skier with a large headlight.

You have deer on your runs?! We don't get those in Lewisham!
