Report written by Nicola Marshall
The light nights really do fill me with warmth and enthusiasm. It really is so lovely to be out running in the daylight after what feels like a long winter.
Karen, Emily, Steve and me met outside the Georges Community Centre for our group run. It wasn’t particularly warm, but the sun was out and there was a distinct feeling of the beginnings of summer in the air! With the lighter nights, it gives us a bit more flexibility as to where we can run, so tonight we took a largely off-road route down by the river, winding back up near the golf course to the community centre. It was a lovely run and nice to see lots of people buzzing about with dogs and generally enjoying a lovely spring evening.
Back at the Wishing Well Community Centre, we set to work with paining the toilets that we’d done all the prep work for a few weeks ago. It was great to be back there and getting stuck in. Steve & Emily took on the ladies loos, while Karen and I took on the men’s. We set to work with our rollers and brushes and started giving the walls a needed freshen up. I’m not too sure about Steve and Emily but Karen and I put the world to rights in those 45 minutes and the time just flew by! Before we knew it, it was time to go home!
We didn’t quite finish completely, so we’ve put ourselves down to help next week as well so that we can hopefully get the job fully done.
Well done everyone. Special shout out to Steve who confessed halfway through the evening to hating painting, lol! Kudos Steve for signing up for something that you really don’t enjoy – it makes us even more grateful for your support!
Well done everyone on another evening spent making a difference to our community. I hope you feel proud to know that you really are having such a positive impact on the lives of people in our local community. You are all completely awesome.
Have a fab week & see you all soon.
Love always Nic xx
