Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Clare C
This evening's mission was to help tidy Miss D's garden by pulling up a stubborn root and removing some paving slabs. Miss D had already had help from a friend to clear the ivy and cut back the 'jungle' - they'd done a great job!
I decided to start by tackling the root and soon realised stabbing it with a spade probably wasn't the most effective root removal strategy (thank goodness I'm not a dentist...). Fortunately David is a dab hand with a garden fork as I'm not sure my 'technique' would have gotten us anywhere fast.
David then set to lifting the heavy paving slabs whilst I started the weeding. With most of the garden cleared, it was time to remove the trellis (a quick Google search for trellis related puns has revealed NOTHING) and planters from the wall. I made sure to check my screwdriver technique with David, "it's lefty Lucy, righty tighty, yeah?" but it turns out that not even the best mnemonics make up for lack of strength. Thankfully David is a dab hand with a screwdriver too.
A quick once over with the rake and it was mission accomplished!
