April's showers bring May's flowers...apparently, but with the amount of rain we've been having I'm expecting a meadow of flowers...

Sam eagerly awaited Daryl and Gemma as he knew Emma and Lindy would meet them at the task.

Sam's intro speech was quick and as it was starting to drizzle, there was no warm up, but the ice-breaker question inside. Tonight's question was recycled from last Wednesday as there weren't many people to answer it, so he asked: Since Jesus sacrifice his life, what has been a sacrifice you had to make?

Sam explained again that he had to sacrifice the pleasures of going out on the weekends during his early 20s after Uni in order to save towards his "first house" deposit. We found out Daryl doesn't do compromises and Gemma is sacrificing gluten in order to feel less bloated! At the task, Lindy reminded us that she stopped sucking on her fingers last year in order to save them :p and Ian mentioned his teenage years of being the designated driver, so sacrificed drinking and having fun with his mates...but probably good for his health.

Buzz cut

Running as a trio, we made it to Dulwich Park to find a lost Lindy running our way. She was so close to the destination where Emma was already chatting away to Ian. It was to be Emma's 250th good deed! Hooray! Half way to 500 (and the next tee).

Ian already had the tools: rake, shears, tonne bag and a wheelbarrow in place.

Everyone chose their weapon of choice and interchanged throughout the 40 minute session as we clear the section near the South Circular from the small entrance to a line of trees. Definitely 5-8 metres of ground covered as we cut up the ivy growing along the ground and raked all the leaves into the tonne bag.

Ian and Sam did the first run with the tonne bag on the wheelbarrow whilst the rest kept at it with the clearance. By the time they came back, it was amazing to see it was still light, so Sam told the team to do a quick 5 minute blast to clear as much as possible before collecting the tools. By the end of the session, we were half expecting treats from Ian (as that's his signature thing)...but there was none to be had ;p

Thus, the team brought back the tools to the shed and took a group photo before parting ways/running back to Old Spike.

Thank You to all the GG-ers

A personal thanks from me to all those who came out tonight! It wasn't the 4k run I thought it was...1k less, but Ian appreciated all the work we put in as he mentioned 8 Duke of Edinburgh teenage girls couldn't do half of what we did on Sunday.

Thank You Ian

GoodGym is all about getting fit and doing good! We praise the runners/cyclists/walkers who come to get fit and help out, but we often forget about our task owner. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ian for organising this as we had a choice of two tasks and for coming out in the rain....shame about the sweets though :p
