Report written by Frances Collier-Wright
Tonight's trip to shurgard storage with Get Rid Of And Donate took us to a shiny new unit on the first floor, although admittedly it looked pretty similar to the ones in the basement we are used to.
Unfortunately some piping issues have necessitated this move, and there have also been a number of new donations, meaning our task for the evening was to sort through bags and categorise into men, women, children, shoes, toys, household and soft furnishings.
Sarah jumped straight in to the lock up and started hauling out bags while the rest of us searched through them and sorted the items into zones.
There were a few gems to be found - most useful was the 'comedy' work in progress stand in case any unsuspecting storers came along to find us blocking 3 corridors, most extravagant were not 1 but 2 sealed garmins, most valuable was almost certainly Volume 1 of The Best of My Guy (also most distracting, for certain members of the team...ahem) and the donated pants will always win the most unappealing.
With everything sorted, we heaved it onto trolleys and challenged our driving skills to steer it down the narrow corridors to the lift and down into the basement for the next stage of sifting.
Don’t let your rejected items end up abandoned on streets or in landfills, where they can sit disintegrating and damaging our environment. Reach out to Get Rid Of and Donate, arrange a free collection for your unwanted goods and help us be there for everyone who needs us.
