Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
19 Goodgymers ran between 6-8km to help Skip Garden in Kings Cross.
We all arrived on a beautiful sunny evening to do good and get fit. I felt like it was the first night of Spring Running - it was wonderful weather!
I started rambling on about the amazing news throughout GoodGym; it's GG Camden's birthday next week come along and we are doing Run Hackney on 8th May, run or volunteer.
We welcomed three new people this week, say hello to Beth, Sarah and Sara!
After an active warm up and dynamic stretches we headed to Skip Garden, which is a moveable vegetable garden right in the heart of one of Europe's biggest redevelopments. Global Generation runs the garden. We met Gwen, a lovely lady who helps manage the community mobile garden.
We split into two groups; group one led by Patrick were the lifters and another group led by Polly were the composter turners.
Lifters & Composter Turners!
The lifters first moved heavy black plastic bags full of soil, snails and slugs. Then they moved pots, flower beds and lots of items for the bin. All the lifting was heavy and everyone did a good job!
The composter turners were continuing the great work we always do at Skip Garden. Mixing the woodchip (nitrogen) and food waste. Here is how making compost works.
After some conditioning work for the lifters we said our goodgbyes to Gwen and headed to the canal for an out and back session. There was a 3k or a 5k option, the aim was for everyone to run steady on the way out and faster on the way back.
We saw the sunset, did some good and pounded the pavements - amazing work guys!

AIC's cold weather shelter helps 16 Londoners each and every week - you'll be making sure things are ready and inviting for the evening's guests :)
