Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Steve Lee
Ms M struggles with mobility getting around her flat, and so having a GoodGym shopping mission helped her out a great deal. Donna, the building manager was lovely and showed me in, where I picked up some letters to post and a shopping list for the local supermarket.
The local supermarket is called John Barnes Waitrose. This excited me greatly. However, a Wikipedia search revealed that this was the site of the historic John Barnes Department Store established in 1898. So not that John Barnes. Too late though - I already had the melody of the greatest ever football song (yes, including Three Lions) in my head and, obviously the John Barnes Rap (see video at 2:25):
You’ve got to Good and Gym and turn up at the right time
You can be slow or fast but you must queue in a line
They’ll always greet you and thank you, so greet them right back
And if you care ‘bout the climate, then bring your own bag
Catch coughs in mask, and not in your hand
And what you’re looking at is the GoodGym plan
We ain’t no hooligans; football’s not even on
Two white G’s on my chest, we know we can’t go wrong
I have too much time on my hands.

Hahahahah! Well done Steve! This has blown my mind - John Barnes Waitrose is my nearest supermarket and not gonna lie, I had no idea the football song existed XD
