Juli, Gillian and Sheila gathered at the community allotment for our regular Friday night session. We had a long list of tasks from taskowner Sue. Gillian took on the task of supporting the peas with some cut branches provided by Sue and Sheila. She then continued on to doing the same for the mangetout plants, putting the branches together in 3's, and proudly announcing when she had finished, "I've made a twig-wam!" Thanks for the great report title. Juli cleared the old chard plants from the covered bed, and with the addition of some home-made compost, made it ready for planting seedlings. Joined by Gillian, the bed was planted up with broccoli seedlings. Meanwhile Sheila dug compost out of one of the bins, barrowed it up the hill, and used it to fill one of the new beds ready for some seedlings. We then ran out of time, but will be back next week!

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
