Inspired by the weekend's GoodGym Olympics, six of GoodGym Redbridge's finest runners met to help with the upkeep of Wanstead House, did a painting relay and ran 7km in the process.

Helping out with the upkeep of Wanstead House Community Association is a task which the group do from time to time. This is the base for GG Redbridge and is given to us for zero cost. Instead we help with tasks around the House. The big project for Summer 2017 is to treat the fence that runs around the outside of the property. This is not a glamorous task but one that will keep the fence in good repair and prevent unnecessary expense.

With six runners turning up for the task and only four brushes and two cans of paint available, the group decided to do a painting relay. Four would paint while two of the group ran a lap of George Green - a small parkland area opposite Wanstead House. Once the lap was complete the paint brush baton was passed on and a different runner would get to run around the Green. Tonnes of fun and the painting got done surprisingly fast.

With the paint all used up and six panels painted, it was time to heat to Wanstead Park to explore the local area and to get a bit hot and sweaty in the process.

All that was left was a return to base to admire the hard work and do a sport of stretching.
