This evening we ran around 4km to help create a path round a garden for the local Food Bank
Tonight we helped the Food Bank continue to improve their garden area by laying down a wooden path around the edge. Shallow trenches were dug and wooden planks were laid down to create the path. There was a lot of sawing too to fill in any gaps and luckily all fingers were still there at the end of the evening. As it was quite a small area and there were 14 hardworking runners we finished the task fairly quickly so then spent some time litter picking in the garden and around the neighboring building as well as doing some weeding too so it’d be easier to plant later on.
With rain threatening we had a choice of the park or a circuit in the underpass – luckily for us the rain held off and we made it to the beautiful Wandle Park where we did timed runs around the perimeter (0.52 miles according to Google maps). The idea was obviously to record as fast a time as possible but also to pace yourself so you were able to finish at the same speed you started at. I think it would be fair to say some are better at pacing than others!
We had 1 new runner tonight so welcome to Amber who also came up with the run report title so we really hope she comes back again! It was lovely to see runners back from last week and another few we’ve not seen for a while – the more the merrier!
As mentioned at the end of the evening the Dino Dash is on Wednesday 21st of June and costs £5 per entrant so if you're interested let me know and I can enter a team of 3. If you are interested in doing a triathlon for Crisis let me know and I'll pass your details onto Sally and finally Jamie is looking for 3 more runners for another running event on Saturday 2nd of July – Run and Dye which promises to be very colourful!
Next Tuesday run will be down to the Salvation Army to help in their gardens
