11 nervous runners gathered at Flirt Cafe this evening, not about the distance ahead....or the warm weather we would be running with....but rather the task ahead and it's location....
The church is a place many of us have never been to....or used to go to and then stopped....or we now dread because of all the sins we have committed....obviously not this last one...we've done so many good deeds with GoodGym that you would think we'd be well looked after....but still we were nervous about stepping into a church again...
John and Sarah had missed quite a few runs with us recently so it was great to have them along again.
Grace and Sean were fresh back from the many miles they covered at Love Trails this weekend, as well as Caprice who had run a very hilly and hot 10 miler on the weekend with our M.I.A. Daryl.
We extended our run a little by going through the gardens and ended up at St Peter's church after a cool 4km. Jane met us at church, after a lovely and truly Christian interaction with one of the church goers, and soon had us up and running.
Sean, Grace and Abi grabbed the cleaning baskets and headed for a an indoor clean, with no fear of going up in flames....whilst John, Hannah and Sarah grabbed gloves and bin bags and did a sweep of the the south side of the church.
Neil, Marianne, Caprice, Amber and myself sweeped the north side....braved some rabid dog....a dying mouse, named Sebastian, by one of the people we were tidying up after...and toilet paper with a stool sample on it...the things we do for God..deeds!
We headed straight back to Flirt where we chatted about our next potential social gathering. Drinks next week by the gardens after our group run. If it's super nice weather we'll head to the beach, and if it's cloudy we'll head to the new place overlooking the gardens.
Thank you Grace...sorry I mean Caprice for taking some great shots of the gang!
Flyer drop next week guys! Sign up!!!
See you soon!
